SAN DIEGO — Scripps Health was the only San Diego-based employer to be ranked in Fortune magazine’s list of top 100 companies to work for.

According to Fortune, “professional opportunities abound for workers” at Scripps Health, including tuition reimbursement and scholarships, training courses, career training, on-site childcare and fitness classes.

“We are honored to be named to Fortune’s list and to be recognized as a career-destination organization that provides employees with many opportunities to learn, grow and develop their skills,” said Chris Van Gorder, president and CEO. “This approach supports Scripps’ mission to provide superior health services to patients in a caring environment.”

Google/Alphabet was rated first on the Fortune list, followed by Acuity Insurance of Wisconsin, the Boston Consulting Group, Wegmans Food Markets of New York and Quicken Loans of Michigan.

While Scripps Health was the only San Diego-based company on the list, several employers with extensive operations in the region rank highly, including financial services firm Edward Jones, 10th; drug maker Genetech, 11th; Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants, 20th; tax software provider Intuit, 34th; insurance and financial services firm USAA, 36th; accounting firm KPMG, 43rd; Navy Federal Credit Union, 44th; and Hyatt Hotels, 47th.
