SAN DIEGO -- Three masked men forced their way into a College Area home, fired off a shotgun round  and robbed the six people living inside, police said.

All three robbers were wearing Halloween masks when they held up the home at 5600 Mary Lane Drive just after 11:30 p.m. Tuesday. Two of the three were armed, one with a shotgun and the other a handgun, according to police.

The masks worn were described as a court jester mask, a mask from the movie "Scream", and a clown-type mask, police said.

At one point, one of the gunmen asked for someone who didn't even live at the home. Shortly thereafter, one of the residents got into a fight with him, causing the shotgun to go off.

The blast went into the floor and no one was seriously hurt, though a 25-year-old resident was beaten during the holdup, police said.

The robbers were all described as black male adults between 5'10" and 6'2". They headed east on Mary Lane Drive in a dark SUV after the robbery.

It was unclear exactly what was stolen from the home.
