EL CAJON, Calif. – A fire hydrant was broke in El Cajon and sent over 32,000 gallons of water into the street Monday, officials said.
The broken hydrant was reported about 11:20 a.m. on Lexington, just west of Jamache. Crews were able to turn off the water source within 15 minutes, but not before wasting 32,025 gallons of water.
Traffic was not blocked while crews stopped the water and carted away the hydrant.
The reason why the hydrant broke was not released.
There are no reports of structural flooding.
