SAN DIEGO — Firefighters worked Tuesday to fully extinguish two small, slow-moving wildland blazes that erupted overnight near the international border in Otay Mesa and on a mountainside near Escondido.

The first fire was reported about 10 p.m. Monday in Tin Can Canyon, near Otay Mountain, and the second roughly 90 minutes later off Rincon Avenue in the Daley Ranch area, according to Cal Fire.

Both the nine-acre burn area in the border area and the site of the roughly four-acre blaze in the North County were fully contained as of late Tuesday afternoon, the state agency advised.

Neither blaze posed any structural threats, authorities said.
