SAN DIEGO – Firefighters worked Monday morning to put out an electrical fire at the Pacific Honda dealership in Kearny Mesa.

The used car dealership at 4761 Convoy Street caught fire around 1:20 a.m. When firefighters arrived, they found the front of the building engulfed in flames and immediately called for additional units, according to San Diego Fire-Rescue Department spokesman Lee Swanson.

Crews made quick work of the fire, knocking it down in about 15 minutes and containing it to a single building, half of which they managed to save, including the area in which all the dealership’s keys are stored for their vehicle inventory. Around 40 vehicles in Pacific Honda’s inventory were parked near the fire and only one SUV sustained damage.

Total damage to the facility was estimated at $500,000.
