OCEANSIDE, Calif. — Firefighters worked Saturday evening to put out a fire at a home in Oceanside.

The blaze erupted at 5:25 p.m. in the 2300 block of Seasons Road.

The fire started in the garage and moved to the attic, but was under control by 6:08 p.m.

“I thought I heard a ‘boom’ and I was hearing some kind of popping – that kind of worried me,” said neighbor Janis Leahy who called 911.

About two dozen firefighters responded to the fire and had it out in about 20 minutes.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. Damage is estimated at $200,000 for the structure and $40,000 for the contents.

Three people were renting the house. One man was home when the fire broke out and he safely got out.

No injuries were reported.
