SAN MARCOS, Calif. – Firefighters worked to put out a fire in a vacant home in San Marcos early Wednesday morning, according to fire officials said.

The fire began on the 1100 block of Nordahl Road around 3:45 a.m. Wednesday and crews had it out in about an hour, according to North Comm Fire officials. Nordahl Road was closed in the area while crews battled the blaze, which started in the basement of the home and quickly spread to the rest of the house.

No one was living in the home as it was being remodeled. No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
