SAN DIEGO – An Amazon Prime delivery truck fire caused a major traffic jam on northbound Interstate 15 through Scripps Ranch Tuesday afternoon.

Several lanes were blocked on northbound I-15 near Miramar Way in Scripps Ranch due to a truck fire on the right-hand side of the freeway around 1:15 p.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.  Two of the seven lanes remained closed as of 3:30 p.m. and were expected to back up traffic during the evening commute.

People took to Twitter thinking the fire was on the MCAS Miramar base, but it was about a half-mile south of Miramar Way.

There were no packages on the truck when the fire ripped through it.

No injuries have been reported.

The cause of the fire was under investigation.
