SAN DIEGO -- Investigators were working Thursday to determine what sparked a fire at a metal recycling business in the Barrio Logan neighborhood.
Firefighters were summoned to battle the blaze at Sims Metal Management, which buys and recycles scrap metal, on South 32nd Street near Main Street around 11:20 p.m. Wednesday, according to the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department.
The fire was knocked down in a little over 20 minutes, but crews remained on scene until about 1:40 a.m. for "extensive overhaul,'' a fire dispatcher said.
Firefighters initially consulted a hazmat crews, but determined it was not needed, the dispatcher said.
No injuries were reported.
