Fire breaks out in school classroom

NATIONAL CITY, Calif. – A fire started inside a portable classroom in National City Monday, firefighter said.

National City firefighters responded to the call of a fire at National City Middle School at 1701 D Avenue around 3:30 p.m.

Students and staff did not need to be evacuated from the area while they extinguished the flames, according to firefighters.

The cause of the fire was not immediately released.
