SAN DIEGO – A 45-year-old man who was riding a bicycle in Balboa Park ran into a pedestrian and was stabbed several times when the two began fighting, police said Tuesday.
The stabbing in Balboa Park near the intersection of 6th Avenue and Balboa Drive was reported at 9:54 p.m. Monday, said San Diego police Officer Robert Heims.
The fight between the unidentified victim and the pedestrian he hit with his bike began as a verbal argument and then escalated, culminating in the stabbing, Heims said.
The victim was stabbed once in the left thigh, once in the left elbow and once in the lower back and was transported to the hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, he said.
The suspect, who remained at large, was a thin man in his 30s, Heims said.
