SAN DIEGO – Qualcomm Stadium had no shortage of New York Giants fans as their team battled the San Diego Chargers on Sunday.

Among the crowd was a group of about three dozen New York City firefighters who attend one Giants away game each year.

“We work together, live together, so there’s a kind of camaraderie, a bonding for firefighters everywhere. Especially FDNY,” said retired firefighter Frank Farrington.

Many of them were on duty September 11, 2001. Their stories are deep, too emotional to share at length in the crowded parking lot of Qualcomm Stadium, but their bond is apparent.

Neil Halpin said they’re always doing road trips and getting together outside the fire house.

While in San Diego, they received the respect they deserve, no matter the team they were rooting for.
