SAN DIEGO -- An elderly woman who was reported missing Sunday afternoon was found trapped inside her vehicle Monday after it rolled down an embankment near Fallbrook.

Cheri Linner says her mom, Cheryl Blandin, did not come home after stopping at Walmart.

The family searched for hours. Finally, with the help from a close friend they spotted Blandin around 3 a.m. Monday  after noticing a nearby fence was broken on Rice Canyon Road.

"My friend is a blessing," Linner said. "Without her, we would have probably found my mom later."

Blandin was taken to Palomar Hospital. Linner says she has some soreness and will most likely spend the night.

Linner said she thinks her mom fell asleep at the wheel.
