JULIAN, Calif. — An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 3.5 struck near Julian Friday afternoon, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The quake was reported at 3:45 p.m. about 14 miles east of Julian, USGS reported.

Residents reported weak-to-light shaking in Borrego Springs, Ramona, Alpine and Valley Center.
