SAN DIEGO – Two people are recovering after crashing their car into a garage in Bankers Hill early Tuesday morning.

San Diego police and San Diego fire both responded to the 500 block of W. Palm Street around 12:53 a.m.  A 21-year-old man and his 16-year-old passenger were in the car when the driver lost control and crashed into the home’s garage, causing around $6,000 in damage.

The homeowner says he walked outside and saw the two men running from the scene.  San Diego police detained them just down the street. The driver faces a charge of driving without a license.

The two men returned and apologized to the homeowner after police caught up to them.

They both sustained minor injuries in the crash and were released from the hospital. No one in the home was hurt.
