Driver shot in face while stopped at red light

SAN DIEGO – A man was recovering Friday morning after being shot in the face while stopped at a red light in the Valencia Park neighborhood, the San Diego Police Department said.

The man was stopped at the intersection of Euclid Avenue and Imperial Avenue in a blue Thunderbird. Another vehicle pulled alongside him at 10:15 p.m. and opened fire.

The driver of the Thunderbird was hit at least once in the face. He managed to drive himself to an apartment complex at 258 Euclid Avenue, where someone else drove him to the hospital, according to police.

The windows of the man’s car were blown out and the driver side door was riddled with bullet holes during the shooting. The man was expected to survive.  No good description of the shooter was available.
