Chula Vista Police CarsThe driver, identified as 29-year-old Michael Reyes, crossed into oncoming traffic, striking a 44-year-old bicyclist, continuing onto sidewalk and coming to a stop against a utility pole and tree, Chula Vista police Captain Lon Turner said.

According to Turner, the bicyclist and the driver were transported to UCSD Medical Center, where the bicyclist died.  The driver suffered non-life threatening injuries.

“The Nissan Maxima was stolen out of National City earlier today and evidence inside the vehicle appears to be property from vehicle burglaries,” Turner said.
