Man injured after crashing car into tree

SAN DIEGO – A 21-year-old man was seriously injured after driving his car off the road into a Eucalyptus tree in Escondido early Saturday morning.

The incident occurred around 2:45 a.m. on Loop Road just east of Interstate 15, according to Escondido Police Department.

The driver of the 2001 silver Pontiac Bonneville sustained serious injuries and was transported to Palomar Hospital for treatment.

The three passengers sustained minor injuries but were not transported.

An investigation is underway but alcohol was suspected to be a factor.
