SAN DIEGO — A man who allegedly ran a red light at a City Heights intersection while drunk, causing a rollover collision that trapped the other driver’s arm under his vehicle, pleaded not guilty Friday to three charges, including DUI with injury and attempted assault.
Douglas Millsap, 50, was ordered held on $100,000 bail.
Police said Millsap was headed north on 54th Street when his Nissan pickup truck broadsided an eastbound Toyota Prius at University Avenue shortly before 10:30 a.m. Wednesday.
Deputy District Attorney Nepeida Melgarejo said the victim’s car rolled over, pinning his arm between the car and the road.
After the crash, Millsap went over to the 56-year-old victim and kicked him and threatened to kill him before being subdued, the prosecutor said.
She said the victim’s arm had to be amputated.
Judge David Szumowski scheduled a readiness conference for Nov. 4 and a preliminary hearing for Nov. 6.
