SAN DIEGO — San Diego police Monday searched for a motorist who struck and injured an 11-year-old boy on a bicycle in the Midway District.

The hit-and-run accident at Sims and Truxton roads was reported at 2:03 p.m. Sunday, according to San Diego police Officer Dino Delimitros.

The boy was struck by a black sedan while crossing Sims Road in a marked crosswalk, Delimitros said in a statement, adding that the boy was thrown off his bike upon impact and hit his head on a curb, causing a non-life threatening brain bleed.

The driver of the vehicle that struck him stopped briefly, got out of the vehicle and then left the scene, Delimitros said.
