CHULA VISTA, Calif. — A vicious dog that attacked two of its owners outside their Chula Vista home Sunday afternoon was badly injured in the scuffle and was later put down.

The dog began biting the one of the two men for unknown reasons about 2 p.m. in their yard in the 2400 block of La Costa Avenue near the Eastlake Country Club, Chula Vista police said.

The other man attempted to pull the Boxer-bred away, but also was bitten.

Both men were repeatedly bitten while trying to keep the dog away from the other. Arriving fire department personnel then used emergency equipment to restrain the dog, police said.

Police said the dog was severely injured in the ordeal and was apparently suffering. It was destroyed at the scene.

The two victims were taken to a hospital to be treated for numerous dog bites and other injuries, police said.
