TEMECULA, Calif. – A suspect was killed in a shooting involving a deputy outside a Temecula courthouse Tuesday morning.

The shooting was reported near the Temecula courthouse at County Center Drive and Ynez Road around 10:30 a.m., KCAL reported.

A domestic dispute between a suspect and a woman arguing in a parking lot prompted a deputy to investigate, a witness told KABC.

“When deputies responded to the scene of the dispute, sheriff’s officials said the suspect lunged at a deputy, which led to a scuffle, and the deputy-involved shooting occurred,” KABC reported.

Riverside County Sheriff’s Sgt. Chris Durham said the deputy was not shot, but was injured and taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
