Death in National City called ‘suspicious’

NATIONAL CITY, Calif. — Homicide investigators said Friday the death of a 40-year-old man at a National City home was suspicious.

national-city-policeOfficers were dispatched about 5 p.m. Thursday to a residence on Grove Street near E. 19th Street on a report that a person there may have been dead, police officials said.

Arriving officers found the man in one of the rooms and he was declared dead, police said.

Authorities said the circumstances surrounding the man’s death were suspicious, which led National City police detectives to open a homicide investigation, police said.

Police said early Friday that no suspects were in custody, and that the investigation was ongoing.
