OCEANSIDE, Calif. – A natural gas leak forced about a dozen people to evacuate their Oceanside apartment building Tuesday night, police said.

Oceanside firefighters arrived at 235 Weitzel Street just after 10 p.m. after tenants reported smelling the gas. They clearly heard gas escaping  from the broken line on the street.

San Diego Gas & Electric utility workers arrived half an hour later. They cut off gas to the broken line and repaired pipe sometime after midnight.

No injuries were reported.
