Crews extinguish first alarm brush fire


SAN DIEGO — Crews battled a first alarm brush fire Saturday afternoon in the Redwood Village neighborhood.

The fire broke out around 1 p.m. Saturday on Bates Street near 58th Street, according to the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department.

At least a dozen units were battling the blaze, which burned about a half acre before crews extinguished the flames.

The cause of the fire was under investigation.
