Firefighters douse Mission Valley brush fire

SAN DIEGO -- Crews battled a one-acre brush fire that broke out on a riverbed on Camino Del Rio North in Mission Valley Thursday night.

The fire in the 3100 block of Camino Del Rio North was reported at 6:15 p.m. The blaze was north of Interstate 8 and east of Interstate 805, southwest of Qualcomm stadium and northeast of Dave & Buster's.

Helicopters made at least 12 water drops on the fire to aid ground crews fighting the blaze. By 9 p.m., the fire had been contained and firefighters were mopping up hot spots.

River Run Drive to Fenton Parkway was temporarily shut down. The MTS trolley Green Line service was also shut down between Qualcomm Stadium and Mission Valley stations.

There were no reports of structural threats. No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire was not yet known.
