CORONADO, Calif. — A house in Coronado was destroyed in an early morning fire Tuesday.

The fire started shortly before 5 a.m. at the home in the 800 block of Coronado Avenue, according to Coronado Fire Department. They located where the blaze had started and quickly put out the flames, saving a majority of the home’s exterior.Nobody was inside the home at the time of the blaze.

Neighbors told FOX 5 that the couple who owns the home was expecting to have a baby this week.

“They’re the greatest couple in the world and I love that they’re here. I hate this for them,” said neighbor Chuck Sweeny. “They were supposed to have the baby two days ago and now this happens.”

Sweeny, along with other neighbors, offered to store some of the couple’s belongings for the time being.

The cause of the fire was under investigation.
