Car submerged off Fiesta Island early New Year’s Day

SAN DIEGO – Lifeguard officials are recovering a vehicle that was driven into the bay early New Year’s Day.  The vehicle’s registered owner called San Diego Police to report it stating, “I drove my car into the water”.

Authorities were notified by the vehicle’s owner just before 3pm Thursday, approximately 12 hours after the incident occurred.

No one was in the vehicle at the time.  The submerged vehicle was located by San Diego Police helicopter A.B.L.E. on the South side of the island.
