"We live in Southern California, we live with the threat of wildfire year-round," said Cal Fire Captain Kendal Bortisser.
The residents in the Rainbow neighborhood are taking precautions to make sure they're not hit again. Eight years ago, the nine acre Rice Canyon ravaged more than 200 homes.
"It was devastating," said Rainbow resident Dale Deuling.
Residents are reminded of the fire every time they step into Rainbow Oaks, the only restaurant in Rainbow. The bar stools, the tables, the walls...every piece of the wood was reclaimed from the 2007 fire. They're real reminders that now keep residents on their toes.
"Weed abatement. You do as much as you can. Because you know...it could happen again," said Rainbow resident Dale Deuling.
Deuling removed all the weeds from his five and a quarter acre home just this week.
