Burglary suspect dodges CHP after high-speed chase

SAN DIEGO — A burglary suspect got away after leading officers on a high-speed pursuit from the East County to the South Bay early Monday, authorities said.

The pursuit began in the El Cajon area around 3 a.m. before the suspect weaved through southbound state Route 125, westbound state Route 94 and southbound Interstate 15, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The suspected exited I-15 at Main Street and traveled through the San Diego and National City area, where he got onto northbound I-5 facing the wrong way and crashed his vehicle north of Civic Center, the CHP reported.

Upon crashing, the suspect ran away. As of 6 a.m., authorities were still searching for him, according to the CHP.
