SAN DIEGO – A fire blackened two-and-a-half acres of land on the south side of Palomar Mountain Sunday afternoon.

Fire crews made quick work of the brush fire that started at 2:40 p.m. near the 7-mile marker of the East Grade, US Forest Service officials said.

Air tankers initially were helping ground crews fight the blaze, but have since been released.

No one was injured and the cause is under investigation.
