SAN DIEGO — The east entrance to Marine Corps Air Station Miramar has been closed while crews repair a ruptured water pipe.
The broken water main was discovered Saturday on Miramar Way just inside the air base, Marine officials said. Crews have dug a giant pit across the road to get down to the pipe. It could take up to a week to finish the repairs and reopen the entrance, officials said.
In the meantime, all traffic onto the base is being diverted to the west and north gates of the base. The west gate is accessible from Interstate 805 on Miramar Road. The north gate entrance is on the right of Miramar Road after Camino Ruiz.
