SAN DIEGO--Two men armed with rocks took everything they wanted in a matter of seconds from the small Ajax Men's Store in Little Italy Sunday morning.

Security cameras showed two hooded men working quickly as they crawled through a window. One headed right for the most expensive thing in the store, a case of high end watches worth $1,400. They left everything else untouched and left the way they came, through a window.

"It's just awful. We’ve probably seen this person, they were probably scoping out the store. Like seeing how we operate," said employee Julia Dao, who has watched that video countless times for clues.

Ajax is part of a store cooperative, a bunch of small shops that use space at a hip warehouse on India St.

"We’re in here and trying to protect stuff and there’s people trying to take it sometimes," said David Kennedy, who runs the building.

Someone broke into their bike shop last year. After that incident, Kennedy installed security cameras.

"I don’t want to put bars on the window. I don’t want to make it so impenetrable to where it becomes an unapproachable space," he added.

So, for now, they've boarded up the windows. They hope to keep the integrity of their space, when so many on the streets have none.
