IMPERIAL BEACH, Calif. — Joggers discovered a man’s body at a South Bay beach early Sunday.

The body was found floating just off shore near the Imperial Beach pier around 7:30 a.m., San Diego County Sheriff’s Department told FOX 5. Deputies and paramedics moved the man to shore but found that he was dead at the scene.

A woman who was apparently with the man shortly before his death was interviewed by deputies, and drugs or alcohol were suspected as contributing to his death.

An identity was not immediately released. The medical examiner’s office was conducting the investigation, as sheriff’s officials said there was nothing suspicious about the death.
