SAN DIEGO — A decomposed female body was found floating in the surf near the Ocean Beach Pier late Thursday.
The discovery near the terminus of Niagara Avenue was reported by a fisherman shortly before 5:30 p.m., according to the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department.
The dead person appeared to have been in the water “for quite some time,” SDFRD Capt. Joe Amador said. The body was beyond recognition.
Investigators said there were no missing people reported at the beach in the last week and there are no clues as to how the woman died.
The county Medical Examiner’s Office was called in to take custody of the body for autopsy and identification purposes. The Medical Examiner will most likely use dental records to identify the body. Foul play has not been ruled out.
