SAN DIEGO – From Lompoc to San Diego, numerous reports are coming in of a fast-moving, bright greenish-blue fireball that streaked across the sky Thursday morning.

The dramatic sight resembled a rocket and seemed to travel low across the sky rather around 6:30 a.m. Dozens of viewers posted messages to the FOX 5 Facebook page saying they saw the unusual light.

“I saw it from Kearny Mesa traveling southeast looking like it was heading towards the North Park area,” reader Karl Bunch wrote. “The color was white at the tip and a day-glow light green color in the middle with a white tail.”

Navy officials have not confirmed any drills or ballistic testing that might cause such a dramatic phenomenon.
