SAN DIEGO — A big rig caught fire on Interstate 805 Thursday morning.
The flames broke out on the truck as it drove south on the freeway near Sorrento Valley around 6 a.m.
The big rig pulled to the side of the freeway near Sorrento Valley Boulevard and the ramp to Interstate 5. Firefighters arrived to unload cargo and fight flames coming from the back end of the trailer.
Traffic slowed down in the area and the I-5 interchange was briefly closed, but lanes reopened around 7 a.m.
The fire appeared to start because of an issue with a rear tire, California Highway Patrol said. No injuries were reported.
