Belgian police make another arrest in Brussels anti-terror operation

BRUSSELS, Belgium — Friday’s police operation in the Brussels district of Schaerbeek has ended with the arrest of one person Friday, who is wounded, Schaerbeek Mayor Bernard Clerfayt told Belgian public broadcaster RTBF. The arrested person is linked to Tuesday’s terrorist attacks in the Belgian capital, according to Clerfayt.

A major police operation was underway in the Brussels district of Schaerbeek, Belgian public broadcaster RTBF reported. Witnesses told the broadcaster they heard an explosion, with several reporting gunfire as well. According to RTBF, the closed-off area was surrounded by heavily armed police and military trucks.
