NATIONAL CITY, Calif. — A 35-year-old man suspected of fatally shooting a 36-year-old nursing assistant outside a South Bay restaurant during a World Cup viewing party was in jail Tuesday.

Josue CrookDaniel Arce Gonzalez was arrested in Tijuana Monday on suspicion of first-degree murder and other charges in the death of Josue Crook on June 17, according to National City police and jail records.

Patrol officers responding to reports of gunfire in the 300 block of Highland Avenue found Crook on a sidewalk in front of Rincon Del Mar restaurant, according to police. He was taken to a hospital, but later died from his injuries.

Police said that after Gonzalez was named a suspect in Crook’s death, law enforcement agencies on both sides of the border were notified. He was arrested by the Tijuana police and turned over to National City police, authorities said.

National City police said other suspects may be at large.
