Man arrested after alleged stabbing, kidnapping prompts Amber Alert

SAN JOSE, Calif. — An Amber Alert was canceled late Monday morning after a man accused of stabbing his girlfriend and abducting their daughter was found with the child.

California Highway Patrol announced that the two had been located around 11 a.m. The girl was safe and her father was arrested in San Luis Obispo County, KRON reports.

Officials say Victor Magana is suspected of kidnapping his 2-year-old, Bethanie Carraza. Police believe he stabbed the girl’s mother at a home just east of downtown San Jose before the abduction.

The woman was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, according to police.

Officials issued an Amber Alert in counties across California, including San Diego, before the two were found.
