SHERMAN OAKES, Calif. — Actress Amanda Bynes was charged with driving under the influence of drugs over the weekend after she stopped her car in the middle of an intersection in Sherman Oaks, authorities said.

Byne, 28, was arrested at about 4 a.m. Sunday by the California Highway Patrol, the Los Angeles Times reported. She was driving on Riverside Drive and stopped in the intersection with Van Nuys Boulevard when the light turned red, according to the CHP.

Bynes was a successful child star who has become a movie actress, but she has a history of mental health problems and arrests.

Her run-ins with the law began with a reckless driving conviction after she crashed into a L.A. County sheriff’s patrol car in April 2012. She was on probation in for driving with a suspended license in California when she crashed Sunday.
