SAN DIEGO – The man accused of stealing a Maserati from a luxury dealership in La Jolla was caught, police said Wednesday.

A man introduced himself as “JT” to a car salesman at the San Diego Maserati dealership on 7477 Girard Avenue on April 30, according to San Diego Police Department. He was seen walking around looking at cars for about 30 minutes.

At some point JT took a key that was left on a desk and drove away in an $80,000 white Maserati that was parked outside near the front door, police said.

Days later, the luxury sports car was found abandoned in a condo parking garage in downtown San Diego.

Police determined the suspect was 30-year-old Marcus Allen of San Diego and arrested him.

The car was returned to the dealership.
