9 drivers cited, 6 cars impounded at overnight sobriety checkpoint

VISTA – Nine motorists were cited and six vehicles were impounded┬áat an overnight driver’s license/sobriety checkpoint in Vista, a sheriff’s┬ásergeant said Sunday.

The checkpoint in the 500 block of South Melrose Drive began at 8 p.m.┬áSaturday and ended at 1:15 a.m., said Sgt. Hernan Gonzalez of the San┬áDiego County Sheriff’s Department.

Five drivers were cited for being unlicensed, three motorists were cited for driving on a suspended license and one motorist was cited on suspicion of possessing alcohol under the age of 21, Gonzalez said.

Also, six citations were issued for various vehicle code violations and six vehicles were impounded during the checkpoint, he said.
