SAN DIEGO — Two men and a woman were behind bars Thursday in connection with the fatal shooting of a man behind a South Bay convenience store almost three years ago, authorities said.

Arrested Wednesday on suspicion of taking part in the slaying of 36-year- old Hector Arce in the 1300 block of Imperial Beach Boulevard were Reyes Michael Cruz, 25, Adrian Ernesto Lopez, 20, and Shelly Ann Villalobos, 26, according to sheriff’s officials.

All three suspects were booked into county jail on suspicion of first- degree murder, homicide Sgt. Dave Nemeth said.

Arce was gunned down in an alley behind a 7-Eleven store shortly after 8 p.m. on Jan. 28, 2012. Authorities have disclosed no relationships among the victim and suspects and have withheld any suspected motive, though members of a gang task force took part in the investigation.

Lopez already was in custody on unrelated charges at the time of his arrest in the case. He, Cruz and Villalobos were being held without bail pending arraignment, scheduled for Friday afternoon.
