SAN DIEGO – Three officers and a police dog were injured after a hotel burglary suspect resisted arrest Wednesday afternoon, San Diego police said.

A burglary suspect broke into a room on the third floor of the Wyndham Hotel on A Street around 12:45 p.m. Wednesday. When a San Diego police officer arrived, the man jumped out of the third story window, SDPD spokesman Joshua Hodge said.

Officers later tracked the suspect to a home at 5th Avenue and Elm Street, where they tried to take the confrontational man into custody, Hodge said. They eventually arrested him, but not without a fight.

One cop was taken to a hospital with a leg injury. Two officers were bitten by the suspect but were not hospitalized.

The police dog was taken to the VCA animal hospital in Mission Valley with unknown injuries.

The suspect also suffered unknown injuries and was taken to UCSD Medical Center.

It was not disclosed if the suspect stole anything from the hotel room.
