LONG BEACH, Calif. — Three men were killed and nine people were wounded Tuesday night in a shooting at a home in Long Beach, authorities said.

The shooting was reported at 10:44 p.m. in the 2700 block of 7th Street, according to a tweet by Long Beach Fire Department.

The nine wounded victims were taken to local hospitals, the department said. Five of those patients required immediate medical attention.

The shooter appeared to be firing at victims randomly after walking up to the party through an alley, KTLA reports. Investigators had not determined by Wednesday morning whether there were any other gunmen involved in the shooting.

A motive was also not completely clear, according to the station. “At this stage we have no evidence that this is gang involved whatsoever,” Long Beach Police Chief Robert Luna said.

The party was originally described as a Halloween party, but officials received mixed reports about the reason for the gathering.

No arrests had been made as of Wednesday afternoon.
