3 inmates suspected in violent crimes escape Orange County jail

SANTA ANA, Calif. -- A search was underway for three men who escaped the Orange County Central Men's Jail in Santa Ana, authorities said Saturday.

Hossein Nayeri, 37, Jonathan Tieu, 20, and Bac Duong, 43, were all discovered unaccounted for around 9 p.m. Friday, KTLA reported.

A search was conducted at the Central Jail complex at 550 N. Flower St. and the adjacent Civic Center, but the inmates were not located. according to sheriff's officials.

The inmates were last seen around 5 a.m. Friday, preliminary information revealed. The escape was confirmed around midnight, Lt. Jeff Hallock of the Orange County Sheriff's Department said.

The inmates had faced various charges: Tieu was held on suspicion of murder, Duong on an attempted murder charge, and Nayeri on charges of kidnapping and torture, sheriff's officials said in a special bulletin.
