SAN DIEGO — Three children and their parents were hurt Tuesday night after a stolen car being chased by police hit their minivan, authorities said.
Around 9:45 p.m., officers tried to pull over a speeding car without license plates that was traveling southbound on Pitta Street in the Emerald Hills area, according to San Diego Police Lt. Mike Ramsey. The driver didn’t stop, instead reaching speeds of at least 60 mph.
About 30 seconds later, the car slammed head-on into a minivan near the intersection of Pitta and Market streets, injuring the family members. Authorities said their injuries were minor and the family was expected to make a full recovery.
Two of the three people inside the suspected stolen car also had minor injuries and were taken to Scripps Mercy Hospital.
Drugs or alcohol may have been factors in the crash, Lt. Ramsey said. Police told FOX 5 the car was stolen.
Officials closed the intersection for an investigation.
