OCEANSIDE — Two teenagers are recovering in the hospital after being struck by an SUV in Oceanside Friday night, according to Oceanside Police.
Officials told FOX 5 the two teens were crossing North River Road near Vandergrift Boulevard around 8:50 p.m. when the SUV hit them.
Both victims were transported to Rady Children’s Hospital with non-life threatening injuries, authorities said. One sustained a head injury and was airlifted; the other suffered a compound leg fracture and was transported via ambulance.
Police say the SUV driver – a Camp Pendleton-based Marine – stopped immediately and rendered medical aid until medics arrived. Officers determined that alcohol was not a factor in the crash.
