SAN DIEGO - Two men were recovering in the hospital Thursday morning after a knife fight at a North Park bar, police said.

The fight broke out around 11:25 p.m. Wednesday at The Eagle Bar in the 3000 block of North Park Way. The bar is a fetish bar with a sign outside that encourages patrons to wear a major article of leather clothing.

A 25-year-old man reportedly started the fight and stabbed a 28-year-old man five times, police said. The man was stabbed in the right shoulder and the left leg. He was taken to Mercy Hospital and is expected to be okay.

The victim told Fox 5 he was attempting to protect his friend from the attacker when he was stabbed.

The 25-year-old man was found about an hour later with a self-inflicted cut and was arrested before also being taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, investigators said. He faces assault charges.

Police were still trying to determine what started the fight.
